Sentenced for witness intimidation

journalnet.com;" Request to readers for assistance, regarding the out-of-line sentencing of Cassie Jones. I am writing you in reference to the recent out-of-line and unjust sentencing of Cassie M. Jones on July 8, 2004, -
10 years, handed down by Fifth District Judge G. Richard Bevan of, for the crime of witness intimidation, and prosecuted by Deputy Attorneys General Ken Robins and Ken Stringfield. This is a quote from a press release regarding the case, issued by the Idaho Attorney Generals Office on July 8, 2004:
"The charges arose from an incident in Fifth District Court in Twin Falls on June 2, 2003. Following sentencing of her husband on other charges, Jones touched and shouted at two witnesses in that case. Jones was taken into custody and later indicted by a Twin Falls County grand jury. Following a trial in April of 2004, a jury convicted her of two counts of witness intimidation."
(As you read this, please keep in mind that this was Mrs. Jones' first offense.) Cassie Jones suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder, and has had that diagnosis for a number of years. The use of prescription medication has been successful in decreasing the frequency of symptomatic episodes for her, but at the time of the crime that she was convicted of, she was eight months pregnant. Why this is important is because she was not allowed to take her medication in fear of harming her baby, along with the fact that she wanted to breast feed. This was her Doctor's order. Although counseling sessions during this time helped to a point, without her medication, the disorder impairs her ability to function in a consistent, rational pattern and therefore proves to be a disruptive influence in her life. The sentencing of her husband was a time of great stress, and only exacerbated the situation. I respectfully request that you examine the mitigating circumstances surrounding the incident, and reconsider the overly harsh and unjust sentence. This letter is also posted on this blog-site: PrivateIdaho:" And openly requested reader assistance in signing on-line petition, to voice their objections."
Read the next post as this is where the Petition is. You can also find it at: Private Idaho, Today I found out that Google search engines, has picked both of these up.

BUSH MISCALCULATED FOREIGN POLICY AND MADE COUNTRY LESS SAFE

kpvi.com;"Democrats won't be laying low on the first day of the Republican Convention in New York. Vice presidential candidate John Edwards will give a speech in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he will accuse President Bush of making the nation less secure by miscalculating foreign policy. Edwards will accuse Bush of leading the nation down the wrong path after Nine-Eleven. He says the president's failures have created "a mess" in Iraq. Edwards is also expected to say that a John Kerry administration would, "go on the offensive to defeat the terrorists before they get to us." Above all, he vows, the ticket will bring "stability and freedom" to Afghanistan and Iraq."
My question to John Ewards is: If Kerry Is going to defeat the Terrorists, how will it be any different then what Bush is already doing? and will it mean the war will end, by doing it?

Convention Opens With 9/11 Focus in New York

washingtonpost.com;" Aug. 29- Vice President Cheney launched the Republican convention in a speech hailing President Bush's war leadership, as more than 200,000 demonstrators took to the streets here in protest of the Bush administration's policies. All of us are gathering this week for one reason and one reason only, and that is to make certain that George W. Bush is president for the next four years," Cheney said. Demonstrators marched past Madison Square convention site, carrying mock flag-draped coffins and signs condemning the Iraq war. City under tense security, with thousands of heavily armed police guarding river crossings, closing streets and snarling traffic on a usually quiet summer Sunday. Bush accepts his party's nomination for a second term in the city where the twin towers once stood.interview with NBC News. Yet first lady Laura Bush, who typically avoids such issues, defended the group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, that has run ads questioning Kerry's decorations and antiwar activism. Asked whether the ads are unfair, Laura Bush told Time: "Not really. There have been millions of terrible ads against my husband." anti-Bush demonstrators here are determined to remind Americans of the subsequent division, particularly over the Iraq war, demonstrators marched carrying antiwar signs with messages such as "Bush Lies, Who Dies?" More than 350 demonstrators have been arrested since last week as law enforcement agencies attempt to deter terrorism and street violence with a massive show of force. New York Gov. George E. Pataki, a Republican, said he is confident that security in New York is under control and attendees will be safe. "In a word, yes, I'm very confident," Pataki said on ABC News."
First off let me say! The Gov. Of New York is Republican as you can see. Second, He's surely not going to admit that things could get ugly because of Bush being their in regards to 9/11 bombing. What he should of really said is - I PRAY!! - nothing bad happens while the R.N.C is in town, at least then people would see him as trying to try be honest about it... I'm sorry he's just the Governor, unless he knows something everyone else don't know and he can see into the future!!

Take the Iowa Republican Party

washingtonpost.com;"No question the Republicans, as the Democrats before them, will strive mightily to present a unified, moderate face this week in New York. The state party's platform, includes a number of planks that you probably won't read in the national platform the GOP will formally adopt this week.Among Iowa Republicans' positions: favoring the abolition of government-mandated minimum wages; supporting landlords who refuse to lease property to cohabiting gays "based on moral objections"; backing termination of parental rights for people convicted of a second drug offense; supporting the teaching in public schools of non-evolutionary theories such as "creation science" or "intelligent design science"; opposing a state program that awards scholarships to students who say they are gay; supporting U.S. withdrawal from the United Nations and the removal of U.N. headquarters from U.S. soil; opposing any socialized national health care system, based on the belief that "health care is a privilege and not a right"; and supporting a constitutional amendment that would prohibit the current practice of automatically granting citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants. Not surprisingly, New Yorkers hold a far higher opinion of themselves than Republicans do. Asked to compare themselves with the average American, New Yorkers rated themselves friendlier, more creative, more family-oriented, moral, religious, honest and patriotic than Republicans were willing to give them credit for."
I don't know about the rest of you but if this is the path, Bush is thinking of Taking. Better....Pray he don't get re-elected

Bringing in a Pro to Get the Drop on Balloons

washingtonpost.com;" Republican National Convention won't be anything like the Democratic version: This time, officials insist, the balloons will fall on schedule you might recall, the balloon drop at the end of the Democratic convention may have been the only thing off message during the whole week in Boston. Instead of thousands of balloons showering the party's nominees, John F. Kerry and John Edwards got only a trickle. Not gonna happen when President Bush and Vice President Cheney are renominated. To ensure that their convention comes to a well-choreographed finale, organizers have called on Treb Heining, perhaps the most respected name in the balloon drop community"
Well we all know they made darn sure, to rub it in. Well that's fine, that they have this kind of money to waste on balloons instead of using it for something more important, then balloons. As far as bragging about hiring the best person for the job, I think it's un-fair to say that. Kerry tried to hire the best person he thought too!! Well who's to say it couldn't happen again.

200,000- Demonstrators Lay Unwelcome Mat

washingtonpost.com;"Aug. 29 -- By the tens of thousands, demonstrators marched, chanted -- "No More Years!" -- and danced through the streets of Manhattan on Sunday, voicing their anger with President Bush, the war in Iraq and the Republicans' decision to hold a national convention in this most Democratic of urban bastions. Hundreds of police officers in riot gear lined the sidewalks, SWAT vans idled, and police helicopters whirred overhead. But the protest was as peaceful as it was vast. More than 200,000 demonstrators, according to a police estimate, packed dozens of blocks along Seventh Avenue and snaked down side streets. Many New Yorkers spoke of deeply felt indignation that the Republicans would come to their city, as though the convention starting Monday were a slap in their faces. As marchers passed Madison Square Garden, they often erupted in chants of "Liar! Liar!"a public school teacher and mother who lives in Chelsea, stood in the sharp, hot sun of midday holding this sign: "My son watched the towers fall from his school. I don't feel safer." "The Republicans have come here, to a place where they don't have a base, for one reason: To play with the image of 9/11," Abell said. "They are using fear and death to make Bush's policies seem more palatable."There were thousands of "John Kerry for President" pins in evidence. Sisters, passed out voter registration cards while their mother, held a poster saying, "If you think voting doesn't matter, then why did Republicans try so hard to prevent black Americans from voting?"
Well All I can say to New Yorkers, I hope nothing bad happens again to your fine city, because the Bush-
Party felt they should have the- RNC in New York. I myself don't feel after 9/11 was the proper place to hold something like this, I will say tho- I am happy to hear that People remain some what, calm while doing their protesting event.

Ashamed He Helped Bush

washingtonpost.com;"Ben Barnes said he is "more ashamed at myself than I've ever been" because he helped President Bush and the sons of other wealthy families get into the Texas National Guard so they could avoid serving in Vietnam. I got a young man named George W. Bush into the National Guard, and I'm not necessarily proud of that, but I did it," Barnes, in a video clip recorded.Bush joined the National Guard in 1968 and served until 1973. He has said he received no special treatment and did not seek help to be admitted to the Guard.I became more ashamed of myself than I've ever been, because it was the worst thing I did -- help a lot of wealthy supporters and a lot of people who had family names of importance get in the National Guard," he said. Five years ago, Barnes's lawyer issued a statement saying Barnes had been contacted by the now-deceased Sidney Adger, a Houston oilman and friend of Bush's father, who was then a congressman. Adger asked Barnes to recommend Bush for a pilot position with the Air National Guard, and he did, the statement said."
Just a little tid-bit for all you Bush- Fans

Reform Party -Ralph Nader For President

washingtonpost.com;" Ralph Nader yesterday accepted the Reform Party's nomination for president, and the ballot lines in seven states, including Florida and Michigan, that come with it. This is just to prevent any more court litigation with our brothers and sisters in the Democratic Party," O'Hara said, alluding to legal squabbles in several states where Democrats fear Nader will siphon votes from their nominee, Sen. John F. Kerry Nader spokesman Kevin B. Zeese sees it differently. "It's actually surprising how much Ralph and the Reform Party agree on," he said, citing electoral reform, ending corporate welfare, and opposition to the Iraq war as examples. Republicans, who think Nader's presence in the race helps President Bush, have gathered signatures for his petitions to get on the ballot in states such as Michigan, where officials refused to recognize his Reform Party endorsement. Nader is suing to reverse that decision. The Ballot Project Inc., a group of attorneys working to keep Nader off the ballot in numerous states, is considering asking the FEC to rule that the Reform Party is no longer a national party and should not be able to place Nader on the Nov. 2 ballot. Keep in mind, 80 out of 100 people did not vote for a Democrat or a Republican in the [primaries], so that is who we are appealing to," O'Hara said."
I had to go out and find a Ralph Nader post because I made a comment about him on one of my post, to a viewer. Just to let everyone know I am swinging in the wind as far as who I am voting for as of this time, in light of all that's been going on with the war and the swiftboat crap. So will gather different post on each person to get a collection of what's what with each of them and also, to open up my post to a wider view of posts and viewers.

GOVERNMENT TO TAKE OVER TERRORIST WATCH LISTS FROM AIRLINES

kpvi.com;"The federal government says it's taking over the task of checking names of airline passengers against terrorism watch lists. It says it can do a more comprehensive and secure job than the airlines, since the government doesn't give airlines complete terrorist lists. That's because the government worries the information could fall into the wrong hands. The new system is called Secure Flight and the Transportation Security Administration will begin testing it in the next two months. But it's already being criticized. The chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee on aviation says it'll take a year to put Secure Flight in place after the testing. He thinks that's too long. Having the government take over passenger screening is a recommendation by the Nine-Eleven Commission."
I say sure Now! Mr. Bush wants to play the big guy and come in and do something with airlines. My question to this is..One-why didn't he do this back before 9/11 happened it wasn't like he didn't know their was a possible threat! Two- I truly feel this is nothing more then a re-elect ME-ME!! In to Office-Ploy on his part. If you want the truth, I bet, he knows he's being sent down the road and he's just trying to get the people to think he wasn't that bad of a President. So we will pick him back-up come November. I say Bush, just stick out your thumb and move on down the road. Because this Voter isn't buying your -Good-ole-boy Story!!

Remember, the next goofy moment is just around the corner

Journalnet.com;" Just when you think things are at an all-time low, and you feel like the only answer is to dive, head-first, off an Old Town building into a crater...Something happens... Something wonderful. Something magical. Something that will force you to blow milk right out of your nose. Milk blowing is way better than Prozac. When I am depressed, there is usually a warning sign telling me that total despair is about to do a one-eighty. A ninety happens in the middle. (That's when I lock up the Diet Pepsi.) Then I wait... The second hand slows to a snail's pace. The big hand and the little hand appear motionless until I want to choke the livin' bidness out of Mickey. But, I don't...I wait...Rotate with me now as I take you through three hundred and sixty degrees. The Circle of Life. About ten days or so ago, a fellow seemed bent on saying "Goodbye" to this cruel world by jumping off a downtown Pocatello roof. Fortunately, emergency personnel talked him down. It's a good thing, too, because otherwise he would have missed so very much. Take, for instance, the Squirrel Man story. The Squirrel Man's name is Jay Beasley and he lives in Idaho Falls.Idaho. He likes to rent traps from the Animal Shelter, trap little gray squirrels, cook 'em and eat 'em. He likes 'em with gravy. Jay?... Are you playing the home version of Fear Factor? If so, are you using the full deck? If not, I am concerned that you may have contracted Mad Squirrel Disease. I don't believe many guests will be joining you this Thanksgiving, whether you go with a rich, nutty Cabernet or choose a smokey Fume' Blanc.
Next, he would have missed that goofball bear, whose breath alone could have made Milwaukee famous.
Baker Lake Resort, 80 miles northeast of Seattle. That bear got into a cooler full of beer and was discovered, passed-out-cold on the campground lawn, surrounded by 36 empty cans of Rainier. That bear was hammered.
Fish and Game shrewdly realized that the bear could be a problem drinker and thought of the campground as his bar...Where everyday is Happy Hour...And "...Everybody knows your name...".Norm! Fish and Game woke Norm up and he lumbered into the woods, only to come back the next morning. (Probably looking for a Bloody Mary special.) Fish and Game was ready. They had a live-trap baited with two cans of the hair of the dog, a naugahyde bar stool and a neon sign. I reckon that nobody at Fish and Game wanted to pull that shift at The Bear Trap Bar. It was a self-serve deal. Word has it that Norm has been relocated to the Betty Ford Clinic.
Yes, sometimes the world can be a mighty cruel place. Sometimes people want to say "Goodbye" to it. Sometimes a problem can seem bigger than the world, but usually it's just a problem...And problems can be solved. If you need someone to talk to, then talk. Call a friend or call 1-800-564-2120. That way we'll all be here to enjoy the next goofy moment that is surely just around the corner. We can enjoy it together!
Found this in the Local-paper posted it because I liked the humor and also because, it has a 1-800-number for people to call into, that are depressed or suicidal.

EXPEDITION SEEKS 50-MILLION YEAR RECORD OF EARTH'S CLIMATE

kpvi.com;"Teams of scientists are looking deep in a mountain chain beneath the Arctic Ocean in hopes of finding a 50 (m) million year diary of the planet's climate. It's a technically complex drilling mission aimed at extracting sediment that scientists hope will provide the Earth's climatic history and help explain how humans are changing the planet. Starting this month, teams stationed near the North Pole will drill three 16-hundred-40 foot holes beneath the ocean floor to get at the needed sediment. The cores will then be taken to a university in Germany for further analysis. Scientists have been wanting to make this trip for decades but never had the equipment to pull it off."
Things like this I like to read, I figured after so much in every post about Kerry & Bush I wanted to add a few different things to read for you and myself. If by chance you come across more on this story , E-mail it to me and I will post it as a up-date to this one or add it on TX.

MAN BUYING DEMOCRAT DOMAIN NAMES TO LINK TO BUSH SITE

kpvi.com;"What would you expect to find at vermont-democrats-dot-com? The Web address is now owned by a Republican, Jed Merrill of Park City, Utah. He's registered a number of Democratic-sounding Internet addresses, including maine-democrats and massachusetts-democrats and linked them to the re-election Web site of President Bush. Merrill says he has been buying up the domain names this summer as they became available. But some Democrats are crying foul. Merrill says he'll also put a link to the Kerry-Edwards campaign on the Web pages. But as of late Thursday the Web sites were off-line."
My Question to this post is? Does this man work? and if he does, must be a good paying postion that he can afford to waste money on bad-judment calls!

BUSH SAYS HE EXPECTS TO WIN RE-ELECTION

kpvi.com;"Candid comments on Iraq and John Kerry from President Bush in two interviews. Bush told The New York Times that he made a "miscalculation of what the conditions would be" after U-S troops went to Iraq. In the same interview, he also said he doesn't think that John Kerry lied about his Vietnam War record. The group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has aired advertisements claiming Kerry lied about circumstances surrounding his war medals. Bush told U-S-A Today that he stands by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld despite two reports criticizing the Pentagon in the prisoner abuse scandal. He says the most disappointing thing about his term in office has been his inability to change what he calls the "harsh environment" in Washington. But he says the presidential campaign "really doesn't seem that ugly." Bush also said he expects to win."
Expects to Win? Hello Mr. Bush..have you even been reading the papers? people are not very happy with you. And you think you are a slam-dunk!

MIDWEST YIELDS BIGGER SPIDERS

kpvi.com;"Here's something for Midwesterners to ponder: you're never more than three feet from a spider. Experts say spiders are plentiful, fat and happy in the Midwest this year, thanks to a cool, wet summer. Spiders typically are plump this time of year as they prepare to lay eggs. But experts say they're even fatter than normal because the summer conditions have allowed them to munch more on their favorite snack -- insects. There are about 900 known spider species in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. And experts say the rule of thumb is that no one is ever more than three feet from a spider."
Just what I needed to hear!! I don't know about all of you, but I"m afraid of- SPIDERS. We have a spider here called a HOBO, and they are damn mean spiders they chase you and their big too!!

Bomb Threat Made On Vet- Hospitals

kpvi.com;" Counter-terrorism officials are warning that al-Qaida may target U-S veterans hospitals -- possibly as an alternative to more heavily guarded military facilities. The F-B-I and the Homeland Security Department say there's no credible information on a specific threat against Veterans Affairs hospitals. But their new nationwide terrorism bulletin points to persistent reports of "suspicious activity" at medical facilities throughout the United States. The bulletin mentions "possible reconnaissance activities" this year at facilities in Bethesda, Maryland, and Aurora, Colorado -- although no terrorism links have been uncovered. The warning -- distributed among law enforcement and security personnel -- is urging continued vigilance at V-A hospitals nationwide. Officials have repeatedly said that al-Qaida may attempt an attack inside the United States before the November election."
This one is really one that bothered me about the wars. It's not bad enough these soldiers already were hurt in fighting a war for us against them, but now they want to come back and finish killing our soldiers they didn't get the first time around. I wish I knew a way to make all this just stop, Its gotten to the point of sinking to levels of plain dis-respect towards the weak and cripple, how cruel do you have to be to do this?

BRAIN PACEMAKER HELPS BOY WALK AGAIN

kpvi.com;" A marvel of science has allowed the family of a Michigan boy to see something they never expected: the ten-year-old leading his class down the aisle at church for First Holy Communion. A pacemaker implanted in Nolan Kashat's brain is helping the ten-year-old walk, sit up straight and ride a bike again. Nolan hadn't walked in three years due to dystonia -- a neurological disorder in which muscles contract uncontrollably. He dropped out of regular classes last year because he could no longer sit in his seat. Now, he's re-learning to ride a bike. The sixth-grader is believed to be one of the youngest people in the U-S to undergo a procedure called deep brain stimulation. It's more typically used to treat Parkinson's disease and tremor."
Just when you think that life is a bowl of crap, you read something heart-warming like this. Where a young boy got a second chance at life because of research. And this is also the reason I don't understand why Bush is so against -Stem Research?

Conservatives for Kerry? Here's Your Man.

washingtonpost.com;"Utter three words -- George Walker Bush -- and watch eminent author Kevin Phillips, a , pucker like he has inhaled a pickle. "I've never understood why we take Bush and his family seriously," he says. They come from the investment-inherited-money wing of the Republican Party. They display no real empathy for anyone who is not of their class. They aren't supply-siders; they're crony-siders. As far as I'm concerned, I would put Bush on a slow boat to China with all full warning to the Chinese submarine fleet" He describes the Bushes as second-tier New England monied types who made the strategic move from Greenwich, Conn., to Midland, Tex., just as the nation's power pendulum took a southern swing. This was not a particularly daring strike into the interior. Rather, like proper Wall Street capitalists, the Bushes and many other financier families had sniffed the scent of sweet cash and sent a relative or two to investigate. The Bushes settled in a west Texas city that, far from being the cowboy wildcatter's paradise of political myth, was a leafy enclave thick with Ivy League scions, street names such as Princeton and Harvard, and enough Wall Street gilt to keep everyone in country club fees. George W. Is the first president to come directly out of the oil industry, even if he was a failure at the actual business of looking for it," he says. "And who did he pick as his vice president? Another man from the oil industry. It's astonishing that nobody really questions the implications of this." The Democrats accumulated all this dirt on Bush, but they wouldn't use it," he says. "These people have no taste for the jugular. Bush proved swell at sweet-talking donors into parting with large sums of money for the sake of the party. (In this way, Phillips says, the father prefigured the son. George W. Bush never ran a profitable oil business, but he was terrific at raising copious sums of finance capital and walked away from each oil venture with a fatter bank account). Earlier generations of Bushes apparently profited handsomely from World War I contracts and from the reckless lending of bonds to a collapsing Weimar Republic government, not to mention some Bush-Harriman investments in Germany as it rearmed during the 1930s.) The Bush family would just appoint a Gucci-shoe-licking sycophant. The family has simply developed a culture of being enormously supportive of their class." As it stands, Kerry has my vote. "I'm hoping that Kerry's a seven on a scale of 10, but I'm afraid maybe he's just a five," Phillips says. "But Kerry's running against a zero. So my choice is clear."
Well it looks like this person has some dirt on the Bush family Tree, and don't care who he tells . and how anyone feels. Click the- link, read the full story. Then come back and leave a comment, let me know if you agree with him or not?

Our Second Civil War

washingtonpost.com;"Americans under 40 can be excused if they think that the presidential campaign went a bit nuts recently. After all, why has campaign coverage been dominated by a war that ended 29 years ago, even as a dozen Americans were dying and more than 130,000 fighting in Iraq? Well, kids, welcome to an encore presentation of our Second Civil War. The anger and viciousness of the Swift boat debate provide just a brief reminder of how Vietnam divided our nation for a decade. Anyone who was in Vietnam knows that "the fog of war" was more than a cliché.I did not know John Kerry in Vietnam, but I knew the area he was in, having served in the same area as a civilian. I've talked to him often about Vietnam in recent years, and there is no question in my mind that it was the defining experience of his adult years, just as it was for me and hundreds of thousands of other Americans, including those now attacking him. His personal saga embodies the American experience in Vietnam. First he was a good hero in a bad war when most of his college-educated contemporaries (including George W. Bush and Dick Cheney), found easy ways to avoid Vietnam John Kerry introduced his Vietnam record into his campaign because it is a central part of who he is. But stirring up the embers of our Second Civil War was not his intention. All those who served in Vietnam put their lives at risk, and at this distance from the war they all deserve respect. Those of us who survived should show younger Americans that we learned something from the war; John Kerry clearly did, while Americans are again in a war that seems to have no exit -- is particularly grotesque. Watching this debate over Vietnam while a new generation of Americans are risking their lives in Iraq. How long before the lessons from Vietnam can be absorbed into our national life without resurrecting a civil war that cleaves us still? The writer-former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, served as a civilian in Vietnam for three years in the 1960s."
Finally someone who was in the Vietnam War that speaks up, if you want to read all of his story click on the link. I myself thing this never-ending talk about he said-he did needs to stop, what do you think?

Government That Lies

Pocatello Idaho State Journal," The People, have a government that lies, supports two occupying armies, puts retarded people in prisons, has no separation of church and state, is in the starting of a financial meltdown, drug laws that compromise our children. The righteous beyond help. The wealthy out of control. Homeland Security? Patriot Act? Etc., etc., etc."
I think it's time we who have a chance to change this , do something when November comes. Remove
Mr. Bush from his post and get someone in their that cares about America, and not lining their own pockets and their rich-buddies!

Son had been killed in Iraq

kpvi-new.com;"Fla. -The man who burned a Marine van and, in the process, burned himself after learning his son had been killed in Iraq. Carlos Arredondo climbed into a Marine van outside his home and set himself and the van on fire yesterday. Marines had driven to his home to tell him his son had died in Iraq. Doctors say he is in serious condition at the the major burn unit at a Miami hospital. They say he has burns on 50 percent of his body. His wife tells A-B-C he's expected to recover. She describes his actions as "his scream that his child is dead." Sne added, "The war needs to stop."
Had my TV on in the back-ground, and heard this news-update. This is really sad, my heart goes out this father, and his wife. Maybe some one should let Bush know what is now happening to families. Because of this- UGLY- War !!

Victims of Violence

Young People: Victims of Violence: "Due to the physical, emotional and cognitive dependence of children on adults, they are uniquely susceptible to abuse, neglect and violence at the hands of adults. Being exposed to violence in one context appears to have cross-over effects to victimization and perpetration in another context, often co-occurring. Routine childhood activities and behaviours render children vulnerable to the desires and actions of adult offenders who may selectively target child victims on the basis of desirability, resource value, 'deviant needs', accessibility, ease of approach, ease of threat, vulnerability, ease of capture or ease of exploitation. Economic deprivation increases both real and perceived need, increasing the chances aggressors are willing to take."
I see this more and more every day just in the town, where I live. And keep asking myself, what has changed in our world so much. For our young children to become like this... sad

My Vietnam War

The American Spectator;"While Republicans and Democrats argue the relative shortcomings of George W. Bush's and John Kerry's decisions about serving during the Vietnam War. While Kerry, focused already on life ambitions, tried to work the war into the main chance, and while Bush made the best he could of an awkwardly placed but essential obligation.I've told that story before, sometimes to Vietnam veterans. No veteran has ever condemned me for it, behavior far more generous than people like me ever showed to soldiers."
This is a story from someone who was their, bit long in the tooth on his story. But think he gets his point across.

Grand-parents raising Grand-Kids

The Times-News ;"For more resources for grandparents raising grandchildren, call : 1-800-574-8656 Their are, 4.5 million children under 18 live in grandparent-households, one-third of them have no parents present in the households. Millions of grandparents others across the country have suddenly, found themselves parents again. They've stepped in to bridge the gap and rescue children from faltering families, drugs, abuse and violent crime. Their stress as repeat parents is quite different from the routine kinds of stress, usually associated with raising kids. They're older, and a lot of them haven't planned financially for raising more children. They thought they were going to retire, and then they find themselves in the middle of parenting again."
I See this to be a really growing problem a lot in our world today, I know just in my town alone. A few friends of mine, who now are raising their children's-children...

Utah Fastest Growing Poverty Rate

The Times-News ;"Utah is leading the nation in joining the ranks of the poor, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Decline in household income, a significant increase in the number of "severely poor" people, those with incomes below one-half of the poverty family of four to be living in poverty. State's increase in the rate of poverty also bespeaks an economy battered by the loss of many high-tech jobs. Applications for food stamps and Medicaid are up. So is the number of people seeking help at food banks."
I say..This is because many of our high-tech jobs, are moving over sea's. Called- Compaq's -help line the other day and I was routed, found out when asking the person on the other end of the phone. He was in New Delhi India! Sure the big guy's will say they had to move out of the country because of a loop-hole to money. But what I find interesting is that these corporation's are now! Pay, these people. Sweat-Shop wages..And also charging us more for their products! Seems to me that if these big-factory's want to move to another country, then maybe we shouldn't allow them to sell their products back to us. Soon the American dream will be... To live in another counrty not... United States.

Trace Your Family Tree

Intro to Genealogy;"Discover the wonderful world of genealogy, teaches you the basics you need to get started tracing your family tree. Learn how to navigate both the Internet and offline resources to find your ancestors."
I always wanted to do this, a-while back found-out on my mother's side. Their was a female, no-name but still looking- Who was an- Indian Princess. This is something we can do now with our computers, think of all the places you can go to for research that you couldn't, a few years ago . Also, it gives our children something to read and learn, who they are and where they came from when.

New Ballot Confusing

washingtonpost.com;"Fla.-Introduced an absentee ballot that requires voters to indicate their choices by connecting broken arrows, primary asks voters to draw lines joining two ends of an arrow. Tests showed it was easier for voters. Critics say the new ballot is not an improvement. People do the crazier things when they're asked to connect the arrows."
Don't know If I like Voting for my-President like this? Reminds me of something called, connect the Dot's.. And we all know what can happen when you do this, don't always come out like it's suppose to!

Health-Coverage

FunSilly Funpages.com: "When I told my doctor I couldn't afford an operation, he offered to touch-up my X-rays.--" Henry Youngman "
I know this is a funny Quote, but it still says what I feel- American's can not afford...Good!! - Health Coverage. Simple coverage most American-people now have, won't even pay for.. A touch-up on X-Rays *It's considered cosmetics Surgery* Bush, claims, "their is nothing wrong with American's -Health progams. All I say to this is.. HELLO, Mr. Bush I disagree

Off Welfare But Still Struggling

magicvalley.com;"Many people back to the workplace, and some of them are even working more than one job. But are they really any better off? And even with two parents working, higher rents and climbing utility bills have stretched their dollars to the max. They just aren't making a livable wage. It takes two people in a family with their skill levels to make a living, and then it's still below the livable wage." So how do they make ends meet when the $309 monthly welfare check quits coming? Welfare reform is successful in some ways, but there still need to be some assistance programs out there because if they aren't, they won't succeed. The rent can take their whole paycheck. People say to themselves, 'Do I use the money for the utility bill or the rent to fix the car because I have to get back and forth to work Social Security checks won't come close to paying the heating bill.. 9.1 percent of its families living in poverty, and 39 percent of poor families were headed by single moms. The positive side of welfare reform is that getting back to work can be the first step in breaking out of the poverty cycle for good.
I hear about this problem a lot around town because some of these people don't want to get off of Welfare, they lose a lot..Heck I sat down one day and looked at what I would get if I lived on welfare if I did the progams the way they set it up over 24-months..(don't get me wrong this is not a get way of life, I couldn't do it I don't think. But some people can't seem to get past it and after looking at the figures, I could see why) You get the big one-Health care and meds. Paid for FREE, Family of -3- get around $500.00mo. in Foodstamps, FREE -child-care while doing their- progam training or what ever they want you to do, Telephone bills-reduced, Ult. Asset., rent-asset.-pay around $30.00 month depending on size of family or home, in low-income-rentals.) You make get mad at me... For my feelings but Hell maybe we should all should go on welfare I scrape to get bye day after day. And I go into the groc-store and see people buying Steak, Shrimp, candy, pop, chips, with a Quest-Card. And here I am running around with a list trying to buy $5.00 worth of hamb. To make it look like its a steak...

Presidential campaign resembles children's game of -Telephone.

washingtonpost.com;" Here are some quotation: "My goal, to get our troops reduced in number, if you do the kind of alliance building that is available to us, that it's appropriate to have a goal of reducing the troops over that period of time, first six months of administration-Kerry. "I took exception when my opponent said if he's elected, we'll substantially reduce the troops in six months. He shouldn't have said that. See, it sends a mixed signal to the enemy for starters. So the enemy hangs around for six months and one day. It says, maybe America isn't going to keep its word.-Bush. "Yes, I would have to use force, in Iraq. But I would have used that authority effectively,I would have done this very differently from the way President Bush has. Why did he rush to war without a plan to win? He rush to war on faulty intelligence, not do the hard work necessary to give America the truth?"-Kerry. "He now agrees it was the right decision to go into Iraq. After months of questioning my motives, and even my credibility, now agrees with me that even though we have not found the stockpiles of weapons we all believed were there."-Bush."
I cut this a lot, to read the whole thing. Go to the link, just trying to get the point across. I'm beginning to wonder about both of them after reading this. It seems that the only thing they both seem to want to talk about is the wars, right now. As far as I am concerned I am not going to pick a President over who gives me the best war issuse's today. I want to know what else he is going to do, to help me as a Voter. Far as I am concerned, Choosing a President, is no different then me to going to Micky-D's, or anyplace. And applying for a job! Their both going to have to fill out a Job Appt. in my eyes. And I will see, because I want to know what he can do for me to make my world better, and other Americans. HERE!! In the United States Of America...Not who can make the war a better one!!

Iraqi Government Gives Militants Deadline

Pocatello Idaho State Journal;"NAJAF, Iraq - U.S. and Iraqi forces battled militants Tuesday in Najaf, sending plumes of black smoke over the holy city as Iraq's government warned fighters loyal to a radical cleric. U.S. Helicopter gunships and Bradley fighting vehicles were attacking militant positions in downtown Najaf, and militants returned fire with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades. Witnesses said Iraqi forces accompanied U.S. troops into the Old City, were stationed about 200 yards from the shrine, assailants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a U.S. patrol on Monday night, killing one soldier and wounding two others, one of the soldiers died. As of Monday, 958 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq in March 2003, according to the U.S. Defense Department."
This has got to stop!! Our soldiers are dying. And for what!! So that we can say we help some other counrty find Peace? Or so they don't think we are a weak counrty, and come back and do what they did to cause the - 9/11 trauma? I have never hated a war as much as I do this one...I'm sorry this is just how I feel, it's become to much pain to deal with any more.....

Soldiers will leave, but how to get home?

Pocatello Journal-Views;"The 1,300 or so National Guard soldiers from Idaho who are training at Fort Bliss, Texas, will get 10 days to two weeks leave before shipping out for Iraq in November or December. That's nice. Trouble is, if the soldiers want to come home during that time, they are on their own. Air fare is about $350 per person and the government isn't paying it. Help in that respect is forthcoming from several sources around the state. To bring the troops home on leave, since the Army isn't doing it. There hardly seems a more worthwhile cause. If you would like to help, telephone 208-422-5268, or contact the National Guard for information."
I posted this in hopes that others will see this in case they missed it, or don't live in Pocatello. Also included a phone number if you would like to do something to help these soldiers come home to see their famies, before the go over to Iraq

Ron Reagan Supports Stem Cell Research Why Cant Bush

prochoice.org: "Recent pleas to allow full funding for stem-cell research touched the hearts and minds of many lawmakers in Congress. 58 senators - representing both political parties, asked President Bush to rethink his policy for funding stem-cell research. Which would allow embryonic stem cell research to be funded with federal dollars. President Bush still stubbornly refuses to change his policy. In - 2001, President Bush banned funding for research on all new embryonic stem-cell lines. Scientists report that very few of the existing stem-cell lines are useful for research or even available to scientists. As a result, Bushs policy has shackled development of new treatments for diseases such as Alzheimers, Parkinsons, cancer, and diabetes. Click on this link to ask Bush to allow this research."

I really don't understand why Bush is so against this research, they have already proved the skin sample and things they use to do this are never human babies Read it and tell me?

Cave of John the Baptist

The Times-News Online ;"KIBBUTZ TZUBA, Israel -- Archaeologists think they've found a cave where John the Baptist baptized many of his followers -- basing their theory on thousands of shards from ritual jugs, a stone used for foot cleansing and wall carvings telling the story of the biblical preacher. Only a few artifacts linked to New Testament figures have ever been found in the Holy Land, and the cave is potentially a major discovery in biblical archaeology. John, a distant relative of Jesus -- their mothers were kin, according to the Bible -- was a fiery preacher with a message of repentance and a considerable following. Tradition says he was born in the village of Ein Kerem, which today is part of modern Jerusalem. Just 2.5 miles away, on the land of Kibbutz Tzuba, a communal farm, the cave lies hidden in a limestone hill -- 24 yards long, four yards deep and four yards wide. It was carved by the Israelites in the Iron Age, sometime between 800 B.C. and 500 B.C, the scientists said. Over the centuries, the cave filled with mud and sediment, leaving only a tiny opening that was hidden by trees and bushes. The explorers uncovered 28 steps leading to the bottom of the cave. Near the end of the stairs, the team found an oval stone with a foot-shaped indentation -- about a shoe size 11. Just above, a soapdish-like niche apparently held ritual oil that would flow through a small channel onto the believer's right foot.On the water-covered floor of the cave, stones and boulders were moved aside by the worshippers and a middle path was filled with gravel. Crude images were carved on the walls, near the ceiling, they tell the story of John's life. One is the figure of the man. The man appears to have an unruly head of hair and wears a tunic with dots, apparently meant to suggest an animal hide. He grasps a staff and holds up his other hand in a gesture of proclamation. On the opposite wall is a carving of a face that could be meant to symbolize John's severed head. The preacher had his head cut off by Herod Antipas after he dared take the ruler to task over an illicit affair"
I love reading about things like this, wish I had money to just travel to see things from the past and their findings.

KPVI morning anchorman greets day with a smile

Idaho State Journal; "Watching morning anchorman Javier Soto crack jokes, can't help but wonder ... is Soto mainlining coffee or is he naturally like this? According to Soto, no caffeine is involved. All that hyperactivity and joviality come with the package. Originally hired as a reporter/photographer for KPVI two years ago, Soto worked his way through the newsroom to become "the smiling anchor for the highest rated morning show, he's grateful to NewsChannel 6 for allowing him to do news the way he knows best ... "with a smile and a laugh at the end." "The person you see on TV is the same person you meet out in the streets," he says. "Life is beautiful. More people should enjoy it." To read more about this guy click on both links on page or the link here; KPVI's page on Javier

I will tell you this is one funny guy, He's like the little-kid that never grew-up, he's a small man which makes him even cuter. You never know what hes is going to do next on TV-live, I look forward to watching him .

Birthright of American People

Idaho State Journal: "Dissent is a birthright of America. People have come to this nation seeking freedom. People have fought and died for this nation and its freedoms. That freedom is more than the freedom to agree with the policies and personalities of the party in power, Republican or Democrat. America was born of dissent against rule by George III. Early politics was filled with much more vitriol than we see today. Jefferson was called the Anti-Christ, Adams was labeled a warmonger with ambitions of kingship, and a partisan newspaper of the day termed the common sewer of all filth in the state. In later years, presidential candidates were tarred with claims about fathering bastards, mental disease and morals that would do credit to Satan. It is the same today. And when the ballots are counted in November, the losing side will complain that the voters were swayed by the demagoguery of the other side. They will say that had the people known the facts and made their choices based on those facts, the results would have changed. Why not give people the chance to know those facts now, when it will make a difference? Instead of making rabid attacks on the other side, why not look for the facts about the upcoming election. Who can be afraid of the truth: The person who knows his position is supported by reality or the person who fears the voting public will find out what is really going on? Let us rely less on an advocate's ability to shout louder and spin harder and rely more on objective facts. Let us seek out reliable sources whose facts we check out instead of simply and blindly accepting them. Finally, let us be accountable for the government we have. It is, after all, a government of the people, by the people and for the people."

I don't think I need to say anything to this. Because this writer said it all,I agree, We do have the right to make up our own minds don't let no-one tell you other wise.

Mother Leaves Infant To Die In Dumpster

Idaho State Journal: "Women who gave birth, was charges with the death of a newborn found in a trash bin in February. Baby was found in a Dumpster at 303 N. Hayes Ave. The community raised money to provide her with a funeral and gravestone. An unknown man found the tiny body wrapped in a plastic grocery sack in a cardboard box and called police. An autopsy confirmed the baby had been alive and healthy at birth, Involuntary manslaughter and felony injury to a child each carry possible 10-year sentences. Since July 2001, Idaho's Safe Haven Act has allowed women to anonymously leave babies at medical facilities without fear of prosecution or questioning. The law applies to babies .It is designed to protect children and women who are afraid of prosecution or being questioned and condemned. These things don't have to happen, there were people in the community who would have taken her."

This story is a sad one, I remember this day well my daughter's friend lived in this apt. blding. Which is only 2-blks from the High School and a half a-mile from my home. I just don't understand why she did what she did, to throw away a human life like that and not think about going back to get it. Her own flesh..Good God !! She had just gave birth to it that day, in the very apt.Blding. To just walk out the back-door into the ally and throw her new-baby in the TRASH!! Like its day old garbage. Then walk back inside to her home and not give it another thought, She is one cold B.......(won't say the word)

Iraq Veterans Against the War

Iraq Veterans Against the War: "As many of you already know the Republican National Convention is almost upon us and IVAW plans on making our presence felt. We hope to have speakers spread out to the numerous marches and rallies showing opposition to this horrible war. To do this however we need funds. Our members are scattered across the United States and since they have just left military service can not afford to travel to NYC on their own. Please help us bring the troops home and end this brutal war."

Hillary Rodham Clinton

The Times-News Online: "The highlight of day was, a popular Clinton here is Bill's wife. Sen.Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a speech urging the delegates to support Kerry on the grounds that there are probably worse candidates, and adding. I am definitely available for 2008. Rumor has it -- and if we can't believe rumor, what CAN we believe?"

Well you heard it here! Hillary's throwing her hat in the ring for - 2008 elections!! I always felt she would run for President, and always believed she should. If she does, she will change history as we know it. Hey maybe she will ask, Barack Obama, to run with her never know what could happen. She would be: First female President in History!!... You Go Girl.

Employees' Pay to Performance

Washington Post: "Group Backs Tying Employees' Pay to Performance, With Reservations. A coalition of 30 professional and managerial associations has endorsed the goal of more closely linking the pay of federal employees to how well they do their jobs. In a five-page paper released yesterday, the Coalition for Effective Change announced support for an overhaul of federal compensation, including the possibility of moving white-collar employees off the 15-grade General Schedule, which dates back to 1949, and into pay systems that give agencies more discretion in setting salaries, the coalition said employees who are performing in a satisfactory manner should receive, the minimum, those who don't!- won't."

Think it's about time we start paying all these White-collar workers and government position holders for what work they do. How many times have you went into a office and you needed help for something and they were chatting with a co-worker and ect., and made you wait. Or you had to wait on them to complete some paper-work you gave them because they didn't feel it was a big deal to hurry it in.

T. Rex Gained Tons During Puberty

washingtonpost.com: "If you think today's teenagers are difficult to live with, consider Tyrannosaurus rex, which at age 15 was gaining about 4.6 pounds per day -- 1,679 pounds per year -- and not from gobbling peanut butter sandwiches. Life was almost certainly a picnic -- all the time:To maintain a high growth rate, these animals would have to eat a lot.' An adult T. rex would have had a five-foot-long skull and 50 teeth. Six-member team that used seasonal rings in T. rex bones to determine the legendary carnivorous rate of growth ultimate teenage growth spurt.Bones from seven of the world's 30 known T. rex specimens, including the Field Museum's own Sue, to determine how fast body mass increased at various ages. They found that T. rex weighed about a ton at 13 but about a year later embarked on a four-year growth binge, to reach about 4.5 tons by age 18, after which it began to level off to an adult weight of around about six tons by 20. Estimated T. rex's life span at 30 years."

How would you like to have one of these for a pet...LOL

Martha Stewart's Plea Letter To The Judge

The Smoking Gun: "This is the letter Martha Stewart wrote to the federal judge who sentenced her today to five months in jail and five months under house arrest. Stating that she was "abysmally confused and ill prepared for...The next step in this process," Stewart told Judge Miriam Cedarbaum that, while she planned to appeal the jury verdict, "I am dreadfully sorry that the perception of my conduct has caused my family, my friends and especially my beloved company so much damage." Stewart closed by informing Cedarbaum that, "my hopes that my life will not be completely destroyed lie entirely in your hands."

Here is a women who has spent years being self-centered in her life, and now, she is begging for some one to feel sorry for her. She just makes me so mad, she must really think she is somebody special if she don't think she should go to prison. I think she should of got a lot more then what she did get. As far as I am concered, if she wouldn't of had all the money she did, she may of got what she should of in the first place. Go to my other two articles on Cassie Jones and read them and see what she got for just telling a witness "to get out of her way and touching her arm" she got 10 yrs. And she is 19yr.and a mother too. So I don't want to hear about, how poor Martha got the shaft. Sorry for the anger mode here click on the link above and read the letter she wrote to the judge and tell me what you think, also go read the other story's about Witness intim. & petition for cassie, and tell me who you think got the short end of the stick..Thanks

Reasons To Cheer Naked

PeoplePC-News; "University of Florida's cheerleading coach was fired after he gave the squad permission to promote more than school pride at a cheerleading camp. Said he was unfairly terminated for allowing squad members to wear T-shirts that listed '10 Reasons to Cheer Naked."
It's kind of funny if you think about it... But as a mother don't think I would even!! Let my daughter wear a Tee-shirt like that, let alone out in public. To many perverts! - Out their, feel they would take it as a invite...

Death duty in forgotten corner of war

MSNBC;"Word spread fast. News passed fast in low voices, quiet conversations. No one wants to say it loudly. The Marines heard it and looked away. Their faces hardened. They swore. What else was there to say but goddammit. Man, was killed by a roadside bomb, set off by someone who was watching a U.S. Marine foot patrol finish its work. A half-hour later, another also was killed. But to the men here, this is a forgotten war. . The world hears what happens here only in a faint whispers. Isolated the men live packed bunk to bunk, they guard one another's backs, they depend on the group to help ward off fear and loneliness. And they face losses in their own searingly personal way. When one man is killed, the rest are asked to go back where he died, to face the same danger, in the name of duty. They do it, they say, for a country that expects it of them. You don't hear the blast. It doesn't register. It happens so fast. You see a ball of fire, black smoke, then shrapnel, dirt, trees and branches flying. You feel the heat. Then its over and someone dies... A half-hour later, the men heard the blast of another roadside bomb about a mile away man down, but, still alive. A Black Hawk helicopter on the way, Two men began mouth-to-mouth. For each breath they gave, they got a mouthful of blood. They took turns, vomiting between their efforts. The young man's eyes were glazed, heart stopped, life drained from the gaping wounds in his sides. He was dead before the helicopter landed.. The sun rises. The war goes on. Patrols go out. It's sad what you get accustomed to. Unfortunately, the routine just goes on. You feel guilty, but that's how it is."
I read this had to post it, not to be morbid. But to have truly make people see and read what really happens when our men/women go to war for us, some of you may read this and say I already know this and so do they I know we as well as them know its a war but.. It breaks my heart as a mother and human-being to know that we send our young people to something as cruel as this. I'm sorry many of you may not agree with me but I hate Wars!! Some of you may also say we go to war to protect our counrty.... Well how is men/women dieing helping our country....You Tell Me!!

Powerful Computer Could Link Workers

PeoplePC-News: "Idahofalls, Idaho: A new supercomputer could join workers at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory with colleagues in France, Chile and across the United States while keeping sensitive information secure. The system could reach speeds of up to 1,500 gigaflops, making it one of the 150 fastest supercomputers in the world. To design the next generation of nuclear power plants, research the cause of mad cow disease and develop microbes that can eat heavy metals to use cleaning up contaminated sites. Cost of $1.97 million. The system is expected to be running by the end of September."
This is only a hour's drive from my town where I live. Guess Idaho is finally coming into the space-age.

City Blogs Put - Bloggin On The Map

PeoplePC-News: "'Insider' "In New York, they drool over pictures of steamed pork buns from a dim sum restaurant in Chinatown. And in Los Angeles, they joke about how the leavings of police cavalry might make Hollywood's streets smell even worse. Locally focused group 'metro' blogs - compilations of events, reflections, recommendations, news and complaints - are emerging to put a number of big cities in intimate, street-level relief. We're kind of that friend of yours that always knows what's happening in the city. Many blogs focus one area, some bloggers are making a profit just writing full time and selling add spots."
Still -a * New-be to the blooggin - World. * But feel... It's becoming the News-paper of the busy person, on the run today. Just about everything in one paper to read.

Mother accused of huffing paint in presence of baby

Pocatello Idaho State Journal; When police and social workers walked into a local home to check on a mother and her baby, what they found shocked them air was thick with paint fumes and a filthy baby sat on the floor. 20-year-old mother huffing spray paint to get high and the chemical odor was nearly overwhelming, Baby was taken to the hospital for a toxicology screening, which indicated he was not harmed. Had the test shown permanent damage to the boy, The mother would have been charged with a felony.
This is plain sick, I'm glad she was finally caught what would of happened if she died and or the baby too. Because of this! When I was a teenager I saw others doing this and it made me sick just to be around them you could smell it on them. When will people like this learn how bad this is, use whats left of your brain chells.. think!! They have skulls printed on those things for a reason. poison means deadly!!

Paid boyfriend's court-fines with Forged-Money

Pocatello Idaho State Journal;"Most people wouldn't try to pass a counterfeit bill at the county courthouse, but one local woman did. Walked up to the Bannock County Courthouse's bonds and fines window handed a clerk an altered $10 bill forged to look like a $100 bill. Said she was paying her boyfriend's fine. When the clerk said she couldn't accept the money because it was fake, The women attempted to leave. Police apprehended her before she made it to the front door, she lied about her identity, she, is charged with felony possession of forged currency and providing a false name. Because the crime involved counterfeit money, turned the matter over to the U.S. Treasury Department. The case will be tried in federal court."
I have to say...This one wins the air-head trophy! For the most empty-headed thing I ever heard off, still laughing my butt off, come on..A Court House of all places. What she didn't think the legal-beagles would get her? Someone should of told her before she went into the court-house... It's full of Police-officer's. All I can say to this one is...She must of been Smoking some of that -CRACK- to think she could of pulled this one off...

Man jailed after choking wife in front of son

Pocatello Idaho State Journal;" A man in jail after beating his wife in the presence of their son, charged with felony domestic battery in the presence of a child. It's mental abuse when children hear or see mom and dad fighting, Police said, reportedly choked his wife, pulled her hair and hit her. People need to understand, when your upset to this point of arguing, one of you needs to leave before the situation turns violent. It gives both of you a chance to cool off."
To many times we see something just like this in our own back yard, and what I don't understand is the sad part is these women just keep going back out of love but because they have been beating so far down by their mate they believe this is normally do want to make some thing clear this is not a crime that only happens to women - Men are abused every day in our towns too!! But men are afraid to speak up out of shame, thinking they are not a man if a women can beat them. Not true!! Only some one in pain would do this to others, We as caring humans need to stop this behavior that's gone on since time began..

This sounds like something out of a -Si-Fi Movie. Glad I don't live over their.

Should We Let Daughter Move Home?

DEAR ABBY; " My husband and I are raising our 4-year-old granddaughter,We've had her since she was a year old. Our daughter, lives 1,800 miles away and has nothing to do with Her child. Only time we hear from her is when she wants money. She knows that our upstairs apartment is vacant, now she wants to move in. She's pregnant, has no job,no help from the father of the new baby. If we allow her to move in, not only will we be paying for the baby, but we'll be raising it, too, while she runs around all day and parties all night. I have said 'no' to her. She thinks I'm wrong, and so does my husband. We fight because of her ways. If she doesn't get her way, she becomes very mean and says ugly things in front of her child. I'm sad, but I'd rather not have my daughter around as an example for the child. Am I wrong? Should I let her come home?"
I know a lot of people our now raising their grand-children today that is why I posted this. I think this girl needs to get a realty check on life and Birth-control. Tell me what you think?

Insurance Coverage of Smoking Cessation Treatment

medscape.com;"The extent of power to buy insurance coverage for smoking treatment for State employees only. Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence with the help of the following, Prescription: nicotine-gum, nicotine-patch, nicotine-nasal-spray, nicotine-inhaler, Zyban, group-counseling, face-to-face individual-counseling,and telephone-counseling. Coverage for smoking cessation treatment applied to all state employees only."
Well must be nice.. That Our government is more then willing to provide insurance help for you if you work for the them. But don't offer everyone else, the same option if they want to stop smoking. What about the people who can't afford to get this kind of coverage? Shouldn't they get this offer free throughout the Medicaid Program. - Funny our tax dollars pay state wages and they still get better medical coverage then us.

Showing Of Yellow Ribbons

journalnet.com; "Relevant question regarding those yellow ribbons that tell us to 'support our troops' is this: What, exactly, do they demand of me? I don't support the war in which those troops now fight, a war generated by lies, the first 'preventive' war in the country's history? I support our troops, in the perfectly straight forward sense that I hope that they come to no harm. I hope this, fact that those men and women did, in a very real sense, choose to put themselves under the control of a machine that could send them to be killed for fraudulent and ignoble ends."
I agree with this person I support the men/women and pray they come home safe from harm. But do not support the misery of, War and Death...

Creeping Into Everyday Life

PeoplePC-News;"At the Statue of Liberty, offers a glimpse into the future. An electronic reader that scans fingerprints. The Nine Zero, an upscale hotel in: Boston,Cloud Nine, recently began in its $3,000-a-night suite a enter and exit system by looking into a camera that analyzes your iris patterns. Piggly Wiggly Stores:Launched a pay-by-fingerprint system."
I don't know if I this ? Feel like it's taking away some of my rights to privacy, with big brother always knowing where I am at.

Creation vs. evolution

Pocatello Idaho State Journal; "The dating of earth has never, by any scientist, been proven to be accurate. No one has shown proof. None of the many different evolution theories have ever been proven. When you think seriously about this universal principle, ET cannot be true. Evolution suggests that all simple systems and elements become increasingly more organized and complicated by random chance. The explosion of Mount St. Helens has turned upside-down many theories that geologists had. Science and the Bible agree with each other. Bible is historically accurate."
I don't think we will ever know how we fully came to be, least not in your life time..

Angry State Of Idaho Took Her Children

Idaho State Journal: "I'm writing because I'm so fed up and disgusted by the way Family and Children's Services does things. You see, I've been in the system for awhile because of different circumstances. I have made a lot of mistakes, and I've paid dearly for them, too. But that's not what I am. Even convicts get paroled, and I feel like I'll never be paroled. Why not? They don't look at the positives I've done. And something else, the FCS person treats the father of my daughter like he's father of the year. I'm treated like trash. She has been out to make my life miserable since day one, and she's succeeded. She has done everything she can to make me look like a monster. I just want everyone to know that if you're ever involved with Family and Children's Services, beware, be careful, because they will do everything they can to see to it that you will lose what is very precious to you, and things will never be the same! My life is ruined and I can do nothing.
Deborah Gilbert,-Pocatello Idaho"

I know a bit more about this case, I will fill you in some. This women and her children were receiving services at the agency, where I worked, alone with many others in town for years. She had three children all teenagers at the time. The two boys were removed from the home at different times both ending up in reform school, state tried off and on to bring the children and her back together but each time, it didn't work for one reason or another. Then this Man came into her life, and he started Dating her and building a bond with her and the kids. Oh did I tell you he was a - L.S.W. (License Social Worker,) for the state too!! He worked with Mentally-handicap people, doing work called P.S.R. Well back to the story. This mother had a Daughter who had several mental-heath problems from birth, thought to be on the level of a small child. Well make a long story he was caught went to prison was in the news for a long time. Because one of the kids told someone in talking about the porn- video-tapes filmed of the handicap teenagers, also with him in them with the kids or the kids male or female doing sex!! Acts The Police were called in. Now get this..Supposely, he was the mom's boyfriend he stayed at the home with, mom and daughter too!! Nice man huh. But from what I understand mom said she didn't know about this. So the state stepped in and removed the female child from the home and put her in a foster home This how she came about to losing her children. Last I heard awhile back the young girl was doing well in a foster-home and happy, and in therapy. The youngest boy is living in a half-way house for teenagers and dealing with issuse's in therapy, heard doing good. Now sad part, heard last week, thru the chat-line of gossip the oldest boy now just 18 went to prison, not sure if this is true but it saddens me, My kids went to school with the boys they were very sweet kids. They just all had a hard life. So do you think the state was wrong to step in on this one this time?

Interview with President Bush at the White House

MSNBC; "we are in the Oval Office this morning with the President of the United States. Mr. President, welcome back to “Meet The Press.” click-link and go to: http://www.americanprogress.org Read what Mr.Bush had to say."

I read it and from what I read it seems he spent more time dancing around issuse's then addressing them.

McCammon Idaho honors military members

Idaho State Journal: "McCammon honors military members Mike Nisson is welcomed by his family on his return after serving for one year in Iraq. Families of soldiers tie yellow ribbons to trees at the McCammon celebration, which had special recognition for members of the military."

I posted this for the families/wives. Who are still waiting for their soldier to come home, I hope your will come home soon too let me know and I will post it for all to see.

Kerry Urges Bush to Stop Attacks

Idaho State Journal: "Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry urged President Bush to "stand up and stop" what he called personal attacks on him over his combat record in Vietnam. George Bush is up to his old tricks, McCain, sitting next to Bush, says that when "fringe veterans groups" attacked him at a Bush campaign function, Bush stood by and didn't say a word. McCain says a group of senators wrote Bush a letter that said: "Apologize. You should be ashamed. Bush really went over the line. That really hurts," McCain says. Those critics are being challenged by a Chicago Tribune editor who was on the Feb. 28, 1969, mission for which Kerry received the Silver Star. William Rood, 61, said he decided to break his silence about the mission because recent reports of Kerry's actions in that battle are incorrect and darken the reputations of veterans who served with Kerry. "It's gotten harder and harder for those of us who were there to listen to accounts we know to be untrue, especially when they come from people who were not there. Rood said the allegations that Kerry's accomplishments were overblown are untrue and that Kerry came up with an attack strategy that was praised by their superiors. What happened that day in South Vietnam was backed by military documents. Kerry recently contacted other crew members, requesting that they go public with their accounts of what happened. What matters most to me is that this is hurting crewmen, who deserved to be honored for what they did. Kerry also picked up support from Wayne D. Langhofer, who told The Washington Post he was manning a machine gun in a boat behind Kerry's and saw firing from both banks of a river as Kerry dived in to rescue Special Forces soldier James Rassmann, the basis for Kerry's Bronze Star. This is a moment of truth for George W. Bush," Edwards said we're going to see what kind of man he is and what kind of leader he is. ... We want to hear three words: Stop these ads. The Kerry campaign has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, alleging the Swift Boat Veterans group is coordinating its ads with the Bush campaign. The Bush campaign has denied the claim."

I am so glad that somebody finally stood-up and said Bush!! Enough is enough..He is acting like acting spoiled brat. I'm sorry but if this is all he have on Kerry to win his position back as President! For another 4-years, then I think he needs to save face now and just step down and say I was wrong. Myself and all my staff working for me LIED!! . And ask that - Kerry and all the men that were with him during this time accept his deepest apologies. And publicly tell the American People he lied too!! Because if this is true then he knows he's done, and won't be re-elected as our new President in 2004', Do you agree?

Dog's-Mess Mystery Solved at Conn. Capitol

PeoplePC-News; "A state Senate says he has the scoop on the poop in the state Capitol. A surveillance videotape proving that Democratic Sen. Edith Prague's dog left a surprise in the Public Safety Committee room last week.Prague, initially denied that her dog, Molly was the culprit, she blamed a seeing eye dog belonging to a worker in DeLuca's office. After seeing the tape, Prague was stunned. Watched the videotape, which shows Prague's dog making an unaccompanied visit to the committee room."
Well got hand it to the poor dog...When you gotta go ya gotta go...LOL

Would Be Ghost Haunting

PeoplePC-News; "CHESTERTOWN,Md.- It turned out to be just a bug on the lens of a security camera. The would-be ghost haunting Kent County Court House is an anomaly that's happened. On July 29, for a little more than an hour, a courthouse security camera showed a round, translucent, white object that seemed to 'walk' up and down a set of stairs inside the newer wing of the courthouse. A security officer first saw the strange light on a delayed video and then live on the video system. 'I've seen it so many times, it's not funny. Part of the courthouse dates to 1860,newer half constructed in 1969 on top of a former cemetery. Some courthouse employees said the anomaly on the video confirmed what they believed - that the courthouse is haunted. Said they have heard strange noises such as doors opening and closing when they were alone in the building."
Sounds like a job for * Ghost - Busters *. This was cute, it's funny how our eye's can play tricks on us...

Why Kerry Is Fit to Be President

washingtonpost.com; "Kerry will do this difficult job. Knows what it's like to served under leaders who lacked the moral clarity or the political backbone to sustain an effort from beginning to end. Personal experience and practice thats strong and determined diplomacy. Nothing teaches you how to be a good leader better than having the opportunity to follow. In the military and out, Kerry has this experience. Knows how dependent you are on the person in charge and how essential it is for that person to speak clearly, forcefully and with moral conviction. He knows how terrible it is to follow someone who is lost -- morally and politically as well as geographically. He knows how vital it is that we sustain whatever it is we begin, and that we support our troops all the way to the end."
I feel I have to agree with what I have read above. As for Mr. Bush I have had about as much as I want to take anymore, with broken promises that never happen or help the working folks.

No Apologizes For Bush-Bashing

PeoplePC-News: "Disputed Headline Filmmaker Michael Moore makes no apologizes for his Bush-bashing documentary 'Fahrenheit 9/11, his lawyer says he'll make no apologies for its use of an Illinois-newspaper headline. The (Bloomington)headline, flashed briefly in the film, came from a letter to the editor about the 2000 presidential election The newspaper fired off a letter to Moore and his production company last month that it says was demanding an apology and $1 in compensatory damages."
Okay I can see their abit upset because of the high profile Movie it was shown in, but look at all the papers they probley sold now because of all the issues with -9/11 Book and Movie on the market. Or are they really upset because they feel they should of got a- $$ * fee * for the news-paper that was used with their name on it? Who Knows!!

Same Sex Marriages

PeoplePC - News: "SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court on Thursday voided the nearly 4,000 same-sex marriages sanctioned in San Francisco this year and ruled unanimously that the mayor overstepped his authority by issuing licenses to gay and lesbian couples. The court said the city illegally issued the certificates and performed the ceremonies, since state law defines marriage as a union between a man and woman. Must wait until courts resolve the constitutionality of state laws that restrict marriages to opposite-sex couples. 'Instead of helping his cause, Mayor Newsom has set back the same-sex marriage"

I have to say I really feel sorry for all the couples that now learn that they are not married anymore, Why because they were told it was okay to do this and they did. Some of them bought homes together, had children and all kinds odd different things.I personally feel that the ones who are already married should be allowed to stay that way, it's not their fault somebody passed a law then toke it away. Why should they be punished? p.s. - I am a straight female, but believe everyone has the right to choose how they want to live their own life.

Nude Boaters Stop Traffic

PeoplePC-News: "CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Motorists on Interstate 77 have complained about nude boaters, and others have stopped to watch. Attracted attention of drivers at times halting traffic. They get right up,and they take their clothes off, three calls the sheriff's office has gotten complaining of flashers, and he has heard of at least one accident blamed on flashers. When he heard the honking of tractor-trailers and saw stopped traffic. Then he saw three naked women in a boat near the causeway."

Laughed when I read this, wonder how long the lines was backed up guess we all like abit of naughty once in awhile.Look at the bright-side of this. Those Nudists, didn't have to worry about any Tan-lines..LOL

Embrarassing For Bush

The Times-News Online-Twin Falls;"cannot wait for Shrub to speak. This deer-in-the-headlights, C-student can't recite his name without cue cards. Plan? What is Bush's plan? Kill, kill, kill, with no idea how to leave Iraq. This is no war -- it was an invasion. Cannot wait for the debates. Hey, how about a Scrabble contest. Winner is president."
I also feel that if Mr. Bush was so concerned about the American children and how the people felt, All the things he promised would of already been taken care of. I know kids leaving High-school and can't even fill out a Job. Appt. Right. All Bush cares about right now if if he gets to keep his job Come on people wake-up and smell the coffee, it's time to sent this good-ole-boy Back To The Ranch..

FDA Study Confirms antidepressants Risks

washingtonpost.com:"Drugs Linked to More Suicides Among Children, that antidepressants medications were associated with an increased risk of suicide among children, officials say they do not plan to discuss the data. Authorities warned physicians not to prescribe Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa and similar drugs to depressed children. Given the risks, some may want to officially discouraging the use of antidepressants for children. Found the risk of suicidal behavior varied widely among the drugs and between different trials of the same drug."
What is the most frightening about all this talk on depression drugs, beside a lot of Adults are taking these pills too!! We don't know how its going to effect our children, because we put them on it to help make their life's better for them and us.. So if these pills are effecting them in a negative way we sometimes never know. Unless they do something to make us see. Usually by this time its really bad or to late!! The hardest part as a parent myself, is what if its was to late? Scares me because I have children with mental-health Problems, the Doctors are always changing their Meds. For one reason or another at times, I feel what good are these pills? Then remember, life was hell before they went on them,. Now their zombies or just a bit better... But not much. As a parent you get to the point of wanting to just taking them off all Pills. Because you feel guilty making your child take a pill for the rest of their life. I told a Doctor this once, still feel this way and wonder why I even make my children take pills.. But I keep giving them those *Damn pills * Hoping.....

Man Launches 'Bullets Not Boobs' Campaign

avn.com; "Be all that you can be - and no more. That's the message the owner of an adult video company wants to give women serving in the nation's armed forces, where they can receive free breast augmentation, liposuction and other cosmetic surgery from surgeons honing their battlefield skills. Employs only "all natural" actresses in his films, said he will give $500 in lingerie and a day at a spa to any woman honorably discharged from the military with her natural breasts intact. Military should be spending its money on bullets, not boobs."
I know this post is abit off in taste ,but thought a few would enjoy reading this if nothing else. Sure is nice the government has so much money to pay for bigger boobs, to get women to in-list! This is so Stupid!! If you as a women are only enlisting to get your boobs bigger then you have some really personal problems, war is not about looking sexy, it's about fighting for a cause and bringing peace to all infield. My lord what next ?? * stomach by-past * to help you lose weight !! LOL...At least this would be a good thing, for over weight people. Look at the bright side of this one, if they got this surgey. They would at least be in better shape to endure the boot-camp training. This would be better then having big boobies. What are women suppose to do with them out on the war- front any way? Use them to flash the enemy....Sorry STUPID!!

Poor Verses Rich In Idaho

The Times-News presents: Idaho-The economic gap between jet-set millionaires and working stiffs grew further apart
The disparity between rich and (poor increased in 25 of the state's) 44 counties, according to U.S. Census Bureau calculations
the theory that Idaho's middle class is shrinking, incomes become more unevenly, government will have to step in and fill the gap for living necessities with programs such as Medicaid, food stamps and housing subsidies. If there are more poor people, then the state will spend more on poverty programs.Clark County along the Montana boarder, has the highest level of income.
Well I sure am living in the wrong part of the state according this this report,No wonder my pay-check falls short every month. And why our Homeless Shelters are always full. People can't make it if the miss one pay-check they become homeless. Never mind thinking about getting sick ...Remember Bush don't think we have a health care problem, least that's what he claims. Said he's giving us afford-able health care.. Ya I got some magic beans too wants buy them!! As far as I am concerned Removing Bush in November can't happen fast enough. Sooner we get Mr. Bush out of office, the better. Then maybe things will start to turn around for the poor work class. I know it won't happen over night but we have to start some where. I hope soon because the only thing we seem to be building in Idaho anymore are; Prisons & homeless shelters, do we really want that kind of world to live in? Take Bush out of office come November Go !! Cast your vote. Or your next home may be at one of these place above, Only you can change things with your vote.

What Makes People Cheat ??

WebMD;"Are you a cheater? You may not think so. Sure, you may not be perfect, but you probably consider yourself a reasonably honest citizen. But think harder. In high school or college,Ever padded your resume with a misleading or outright false job description? Have you taken an extra deduction or two on your taxes, maybe writing off a dinner with friends as a business expense? Do you really pay for that deluxe cable line-up, or is your hook-up not quite legit? If you're guilty of any of these sins, you're not alone. If cheating is more common, the question is, why are we more likely to cheat than previous generations? And what does cheating do to us? How does it harm our society, our families, and ourselves?"
You may ask why did I post this?.. Well because of all the lieing going on in the News-Today... I don't understand a lot of whats happening in the world today, anymore the next person does, but I remember when growing up you just didn't think about telling a lie unless it was going to save you from a-butt whipping, then you prayed they never would find out. But today people roll a lie off their tongues like its nothing. It's sad ..we need all to start a change to this some-where, they only place I know is in your own homes. I tell my children I would rather know the truth and be a little mad, then to know they didn't have enough faith in me to tell me the truth. I also tell others I don't care if it hurts my feelings, at least... I know how they really feel. So-this is what I'm trying to doing in my life to change things. What do you do and how do you handle it when it happens to you? Leave me a comment and tell me what you do, or how you feel about this article.

Interesting Olympic Facts

about.com;"Created by Pierre de in 1914, the flag contains five interconnected rings on a white background. The five rings symbolize the five significant continents and are interconnected to symbolize the friendship to be gained from these international competitions. The rings, from left to right, are blue, yellow, black, green, and red. The colors were chosen because at least one of them appeared on the flag of every country in the world. The Olympic flag was first flown during the 1920."
I hope everyone watching at least some of the Games on TV this week I watched the opening day and it was so breath-taking to watch everything they did. My fav. Thing was the man who balanced himself on the giant cube in the air while it turned.

Ancient History of the Olympics

about.com; "Olympics were held every four years at Olympia, where all free Greek men were entitled to compete. The first Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C. and the last in A.D. 393,One Olympic origins story, mentioned in Greek Tragedy and the House of Atreus, tells of how Pelops won the hand of his bride, Hippodamia, by competing in a chariot race against her father, King Oinomaos of Pisa. Pelops conspired to win the race by replacing the king's chariot's lynchpins with ones made of wax which melted on the course, throwing the king from his chariot and killing him"
I put posted this because I thought these facts were interesting to read , they helped me to understand the back-ground of the Olympics and why we have them today.
